We are living in interesting times these days. There are events and people in the world who make us question humanity. They make us question who we are and how could we be part of someone or something who acts out of anger, hatred or other low vibrations. They make us feel the separateness in the world. How can we, all be part of something greater, yet think so differently from one another. Act so differently than one another.
As those who walk a spirit led path, we are taught that oneness is ecstasy. To be that connected in with source and all that is. Don’t get me wrong, it is ecstasy. However, we are living in a 3D reality in which we are here to experience a wide range of emotions. We are here to experience the highs and the lows. We are here to transcend back to this state of “oneness” from the idea of separateness.
More often than not, in this reality, we come from a place of separateness. Every time we choose anger, we have separated ourselves from those we are angry at. This separateness makes us think that we are different, that we are better because we don’t act that way. The funny thing is, that we have this illusion within our anger that we are connected to those who also choose to be angry along with us. We think, because we commiserate with others who are also angry that we are coming together.
Think about how you feel when you are angry. You feel hot, bothered, like everything sucks and no one could possibly truly understand what you are feeling. You are separated from everyone and everything, even those who are angry alongside of you. Your heart feels closed and hard. Your chest feels tight and your stomach hurts.
However, when we choose love, every part of love, giving it and receiving it. when we choose to keep our hearts open and embrace the world around us. We feel connected, we feel like we can make a difference, we feel hope for humanity and we feel that oneness.
There can be no darkness if there is even just one spark of light. Remember that statement… There can be no darkness if there is even just one spark of light! Think about that… I know that I can be a spark of light. I can shine brightly, so that others anger and sadness, melts away in my presence. I can choose to continue on the path of love because as long as just one person can hold that light, then there is still hope for a better world. There is still hope that love will transcend. There is still a knowing that things will get better.
Be that spark of light for those around you. Stand up for love. Reflect what you would like your world to be. Like those who have stood up before you: Gandhi, Martin Luthur King, Mother Theresa and so many more who chose to embrace love.

Over 10 years ago now I studied at the Academy of the Ancient Arts. Every week for a year I drove to South Lake on Tuesday’s up on Echo summit to my teachers house with my fellow students. We would spend the whole day there learning. There were only 3 of us accepted into the program at that time and 3 that preceded us. We studied, in depth, the 4 elements and the 4 directions, the lunar cycles, the solar cycles, tarot and much more.
These were taught to us as they had been passed down from grandmother to granddaughter through the generations to our teacher. A blend of Native American and Celtic tradition.
Each month, as part of our course of study and for years after, we performed the moon rituals – new, waxing, full, waning and the void. About every other month we also performed the Solar Cycles or the 8 High Days – Winter Solstice/Yule, Summer Solstice/Lithia, Fall Equinox/Mabon, Spring Equinox/Ostara, Samhain/Halloween, Imbolc, Beltane and Lammas. Typically, this was done with our Circle. A group of individuals who came together to play with the energies of the day and celebrate.
As part of our daily practice, we would open sacred space with the 4 elements and 4 directions calling in what we wanted to bring forth into our day.
These practices are ingrained in me and are part of my world both in waking and in dreamtime. I call in the directions for everything I do. I set my intentions each day. I set intentions for clients, friends, and family using the 4 directions and 4 elements. Each month when new moon comes around, I take time to do a ritual and set my intentions for the next lunar cycle. Each high day that comes I take time to bring forth more things I want to create. Sometimes myself and others offer these rituals publicly and sometimes we just do them for ourselves.
They are wonderful techniques to help create the life you want to manifest. When done in a group setting, the energy of each person who is in attendance gets added to the intentions that you have set forth. It adds an extra boost to your creation and it’s always fun to co-create!
I do ritual, because I want to share these wonderful techniques with others who can benefit. I do ritual because it is part of me and who I have become. I do ritual because it is fun, and I enjoy the co-creation. It is always perfect each time no matter if 1 person joins or many join in.
When we come together, we add to the cosmic wave of light that has been created in the world. By becoming our own creator, we heal parts of ourselves as well as mother earth. We get to have the life we desire.

What is Distance Reiki? How does it work? It is a hard thing to explain sometimes and is something to be experienced. As the picture above says, “where attention goes, energy flows.”
Think for a moment: Your having a bad day, you call your best friend, your mom, your partner… you hear their voice and you start to smile, relax and become grounded again. You feel better all by hearing their voice and having a conversation. This is energy. They may be across the country but you feel them, you sense them as you listen to them, it’s as if they are right there with you. Everything shifts!
This is how distance reiki works. As a reiki practitioner, I can tune into your energy when I am given permission by you. This allows the energy to flow directly to you and for you to begin to heal, feel grounded and uplifted.

Is your child sensitive? This was me as a child. I was “Sensitive”. I was actually sensitive to the energies and the emotions around me. I felt anything and everything, to which I reacted and usually not in a healthy way. The list of sensitivities can be long and varies. One minute a happy child, the next crying at the drop of a hat. Does your child get angry at seemingly nothing? Are they constantly sick, or cry so hard that they make themselves ill. Have you ever watched your child think themselves sick? Digestive issues, sensitive stomach or lots of tummy aches are all symptoms of being “sensitive”. Think back to times in your life when you have been sick, and think about if there has been an emotional component that came along with it.
Our children are still innocent and pure, they have not had the no’s, the cant’s, and the should not’s in life. They are just going along learning and “experiencing”. Kids feel everything, and some more than others. They take on things that are not their own because they have not been taught the tools to do otherwise.
As children and adults, we can make ourselves ill by the things we think and feel. The word disease is “dis” “ease”, which translates literally to not being at ease. When we are uneasy what happens? I know what happens. A lot of time was focused on being sick to my stomach by the emotions that I felt as a child. I swallowed other people’s words, and my own only to end up with numerous sore throats.
How many times in your life have you held your tongue and not said something only to end up with either a sore throat, upset stomach or constipated because you swallowed your words? As a way to cope with my “sensitivity”, I spent most of my time spaced out, daydreaming and unable to concentrate. I was put on Ritalin to help me concentrate. If they only knew that all I had to do was learn to be grounded, to be present in my body. I wouldn’t have had to take all those pills!
This all continued into my early 20’s, until I really started to learn about energy, Reiki and how to harmoniously live with the energies that surround me. As an adult I use the energies around me to help me stay grounded. But what is being grounded? It is the feeling of being really present in your day and your body. Breathing is an example of grounding. You know, take a deep breath and count to ten; it is a general starting point for grounding. Most of us live our lives in a clumsy, not being able to think clearly, bumping into things, forgetting things way. We are so OVER stimulated between work/homework, cell phone, computer, TV, Facebook, friends and on and on that we are not present in our-self.
As an adult who was a “sensitive” child I am excited along with Brooke Butler RMT to share our knowledge to help kids be more healthy and productive in their lives.
On February 22nd & 24th we will be teaching a Kids Introduction to Energy. During the introduction to energy we will teach your children how to live harmoniously with the energies around them. We will be teaching them practical every day tools to help them. Included will be: how to be grounded, how to shield or bubble, how to focus energy to help themselves & others plus much more!
Kids need these tools as much as adults. To help them concentrate. To enable them to help themselves when they are in uncomfortable situations and mom & dad aren’t around. To teach them how to deal with emotions in a healthy way therefore preventing them from making themselves sick from it. Being sensitive is not a problem, it’s a gift. Let’s enable our children to be happy, healthy, and grounded kids.

Each day, I start by doing what I call “opening space”. I invite in the energies of the four directions and set my intentions for the day. I do this so that I have taken a moment to stop, think about what I want to create, breathe and listen to spirit.
On the days I forget to do this, because those days do happen, I notice my day may not run as smooth and things don’t always seem to flow right.
Here is an example of what I do. Either sitting or standing, I close my eyes and I breathe, I take a minute to clear my mind and tune out the world. I come into my center and I let things flow.
Note: I have been trained in the four elements and directions so this is what I use as a guideline. I’ll share with you later on how to do it without training in this area.
I start in the East – I call in the east for my breathe, which brings me clarity and allows me to respond instead of react. That allows me to have the perfect words at the perfect time. Which allows me to listen to spirit, for myself and those whom I help today. To the highest good, with blessings to all.
From the South – I call in love, laughter, playfulness, passion for all that i do in my day. Sparkles that radiate from
the inside out for the world to see. To the highest good with blessings to all.
From the West – I call in the my intuition, that i may be able to hear it and trust it. I ask to go with the flow and let go of the way I think things should be, so they can be the best they can be. To the highest good, with blessings to all.
From the North – I call in a happy healthy body. I connect down to the earth for support and nurturing and I connect up to the heavens for spirit love and light. To the highest good, with blessings to all.
I call in the male and the female in balance, harmony joy and bliss. I call in partnership and open honest communication. To the highest good, with blessings to all.
I then go on to invite in dive help from various areas and over it all up for the welfare of all beings everywhere.
It can take me two minutes; it can take me 10 minutes. I can do it with my eyes closed or my eyes open. I can do it while at work, at home, walking or driving. It all depends on my time and what I would like to call in for that day. Sometimes each day is similar most days there are specific things for that day only.
Based on what you have read above try it out for yourself. Next time we will go into more detail on how to simply set your intentions without use of the four directions.
New moon energy is a time of growing, expanding, and coming to fullness. It is the perfect time to write down our intentions for what we want to create in the next lunar cycle. (28 days)
Why do we want to set intentions with the lunar cycles? Think about how the moon affects the ocean. How it has an ebb and flow of tides because of the moons pull. Our bodies are 70% water, so think about how the moon affects us as well!
New Moon and Manifestation: A How to Guide.
- During the first 3 days of the new moon, take time to sit quietly and think about what it is you want to create over the next month. What do you want to bring into your life or what do you already have that you want to create more of?
- Write down what it is that you want. Feel free to draw pictures, symbols, color, whatever it is that will get the intention across for you. The piece of paper can be as big or as small as you want it. It can be any color you want it to be.
- Somewhere on your paper or at the end of your last statement write: “To the highest good with blessings to all.”
- The take your piece of paper and fold it 3 times length ways and 3 times long ways. You can say while you are doing this if you choose, “by the power of 3 x 3 this or something better.”
- If you have Reiki, infuse the piece of paper with Reiki energy. If you don’t have Reiki, rub your hands together to create an energy ball and put an intention of growing and abundance into the piece of paper.
- Then place your paper where you can read it often. If you are trying to bring more money into your life, place it in your wallet and read it each time you take money out or put money in. If you are trying to bring in love or happiness place it in your pocket or if you are a woman put in your bra to keep it close to heart, remembering to read it often. You can also place it on your bedside table or wherever you would like. The key is to read it often.
Things to remember:
- You can’t control anyone else or make others do things. (hence using our saying “to the highest good with blessings to all”)
- You want to try and keep what you want to create to just a couple things. You can put many things, but think about it this way: Is it easier to put your energy towards two things or 10 things? Same works for God/Universal energy.
- You can write your intentions at any time during New moon, however the closer you are to the actual new moon the more potent the energy will be and the more time you will have to bring your manifestation to fruition.
